“I didn’t realize I really wanted to be a physician until I started as a medical volunteer and scribe in rural primary healthcare with an internal medicine doctor. I was already starting my 3rd year in college and felt behind, with little clue on what steps to take to achieve my goal. Thanks to some mentors that I’ll never forget, they helped me get to where I am now. Building off of the advice they game me, I hope to help more people that are in a similar situation, or just need that push to pursue their dreams.
My first semester at UTHSCSA was by far the most challenging time in all of my academic career, and was honestly a huge change from undergraduate university. I struggled a ton and was stressed out, but I don’t regret it at all, because it taught me work ethic, let me make connections, and put me in a much better place I wouldn’t be otherwise. I want to be able to pass on everything I learned in these last two years to prospective medical students so that they can have the best chance at succeeding.
I was raised in San Antonio, and did almost all of my education here except for 4 years at UT Austin!”
